The process for Saint Lucians began in August 2014 when the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Education in Saint Lucia, began the process of promotion, achieving full participation with more than fifty applicants. The interview stage was held between the months of September and November 2014, according to the regulations of Fundayacucho.

Venezuela is the headquarters of the Dr. Salvador Allende Latin American School of Medicine which is home to more than 2,000 students from 39 countries in America, Africa and Asia. Through Fundayacucho, scholarships have been awarded to 26,000 students to pursue a degree in Integral Community Medicine.

Integral Community Medicine is a programme that proposes to train doctors with an elevated social, humanistic, ethical, scientific and technical commitment, with diagnostic and therapeutic competencies, capable of offering integral medical attention applying the processes of advocacy, healing and rehabilitation of the individual, family, community and environment.
