Canaries and Soufriere qualify for semi-finals

East Coast neighbors Soufriere and Canaries have booked their places in the semi finals of the 2012 Blackheart Knockout Football tournament after the fifth day of action of Sunday evening at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.
In the first of the quarter final matches played Soufriere registered a three goals to one win over Mon Repos. Soufriere was led to victory by goals from Troy Simon in the 13th minute, Serge Felix in the 16th minute and Eric Francois in the 76th minute.
Hazel Charlery scored Mon Repos ‘lone goal in the 51st minute.
In the second quarter final encounter played Sunday evening. Canaries easily got past Vieux Fort North three goals to nil. They were led to victory by two goals from Bradley Tisson in the ninth and 72nd minutes and Mitchel Regis who converted in the 83rd minute.
In the preliminary round matches played Saturday evening, Vieux Fort South got past Desruisseaux one goal to nil in extra time. The winner-a goal courtesy of national striker Jahmil Joseph in the dying seconds of the extra time period.
In the other match of the evening, Dennery won over Laborie two goals to nil. Goals for Dennery came from Winnel Felix in the 33rd minute and Levi Gilbert in the 79th minute.
The competition resumes today (Wednesday) when the other two quarter final matches will be
played. From 6:00 pm Gros Islet entertains Vieux Fort South and from 8:00 pm Dennery takes on Micoud.
The semi-finals will be played on June 2 and the final is tentatively set for Sunday June 10.
