To be called “the Pearl of the Caribbean,” the project will be constructed on seven hundred acres of Soufriere land. It is anticipated that it will generate during its initial phase of construction some eight hundred workers.
The prime expressed his government’s determination to take the lead in the new development of a horse industry that is expected to create new tourism and entertainment alternatives and full-time employment for hundreds of Saint Lucians.

On completion of the project, said Prime Minister Chastanet, over one thousand racehorses will be accommodated with housing. He said the ultimate ambition was to make Saint Lucia the entertainment center in the Caribbean. The anticipated international interest in the sport of horse racing will attract to Saint Lucia a new and diverse audience.
Additionally: “The government feels satisfied this investment will be a key driver in our quest new investments for the south of the island.”
Also attending yesterday’s signing was a representative of Trim’s Riding Stables. He said: “Everyone knows Trim’s, thanks to my dad’s dedication to horse racing. It is also my passion. It has always been a family dream that one day Saint Lucia would have horse-racing facilities on par with the best in the world!”

  3. It is not Soufriere lands rather Beausejour lands in Vieux Fort . Extraordinary development for the town of my birth.I remember when Sir.John Compton initiated the gathering at VieuxFort secondary school to kick off the Southern Frontier many years ago. My grandmother Ma Ti Peter will be happy and my father Jerome Popo.I was given the name Pancras Popo at birth, my legal name has been Ahmed Obataiye Popo for quite some time now, still away from my great country I am so pleased to see some progress.I fully agree with my cousin Peter Josie about the neglect of Vieux Fort for so long.

  4. Pie in the sky. I stopped reading when i got to the part….” over 1000 race horses will be accommodated with housing”.. Has the STAR lost their objectivity.
