International accounting firm BDO opens its doors in St Lucia

There is a new player in the accounting services industry in St Lucia. It is called BDO, named after its founders Binder, Dijker, Otto —35 years ago. The company is one of the top five accounting firms in the world and is growing rapidly with presence in 1110 countries.
Its latest expansion is BDO Eastern Caribbean with the local office headed by senior chartered accountant and entrepreneur Brenda Williams along with her team of professional financial managers.

Brenda Williams established her accounting career in England at the firm Arthur Andersen then moved to St Lucia where she worked with accounting firm Coopers and Lybrand and eventually becoming a founding member of Chase, Skeete and Boland. Now she heads BDO St. Lucia, the only accounting firm with a female at the helm.

Earlier this week members of the local business and accounting fraternity were invited to the official launch of BDO St Lucia where they had the opportunity to meet the BDO local team as well as regional and international partners.
During her speech head of BDO St Lucia noted that
this was a proud moment for her and staff. “We are happy and proud to be part of the BDO family and more importantly we are pleased to bring the world of BDO to our fledgling society. Our current and potential clients can expect the very best in professional audit and financial accounting services delivered with local care and attention and supported by a strong international network,” said Williams.

Senior BDO Executive in the Caribbean and Managing Partner of BDO Curacao Gerd Glaudemans see the Eastern Caribbean presence as a seminal moment in the expansion of the BDO network. “We have always had a very solid foundation in the Caribbean region with offices in British Virgin Islands, the Cayman
Islands, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, St Marten and Curacao. This presence in the Eastern Caribbean has truly poised us for further growth and expansion and we are very excited about this”, noted Glaudemans.
