The St Lucia National Netball Association gets the support of Super J supermarkets for two matches in July.
Super J Supermarkets has accepted the St Lucia National Netball Association’s invitation to be one of the main sponsors of the Americas Federation of Netball Associations [AFNA] Qualifier to be held in St Lucia during the period July 22– 29, 2010. Accordingly, an EC$10,000 cheque presentation was made to the SLNNA at the time of the visit of the President of the International Federation of Netball Associations [IFNA], who is also the President of AFNA.
As St Lucia’s largest supermarket chain, with eight stores in convenient locations around the island, Super J is very committed to giving back to its customers and to be better every day at doing so. Like netball, the company’s customer base is dominated by women and partnering with the St. Lucia National Netball Association is one more way to show appreciation.
The company was very appreciative of the opportunity to have had this presentation witnessed by Dame Pearlette Louisy, Patron of the SLNNA. In preparation for the hosting of this tournament, Mrs Molly Rhone who is the President of both IFNA and AFNA, accompanied by AFNA Treasurer Mrs Gloria Ballantyne, visited St Lucia during February 10–13.
Super J wishes to congratulate the Government of St Lucia and the St Lucia National Netball Association for taking up the challenge of hosting the AFNA qualifier. The first and second placed countries in the tournament will qualify for participation in world Netball Championships to be held in Singapore in 2011. St Lucia is therefore presented with an excellent opportunity to regain a world netball ranking and to aspire to qualify for participation in WNC 2011.
Super J has committed to working with the SLNNA and the Organizing Committee for the AFNA Qualifier to promote the upcoming international championship and to increase public appreciation for the sport of netball. The matches will take place at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in Gros Islet, on evenings, from July 23–28, 2010. All St Lucians are encouraged to be part of the matches.
