
A player with Behind the College All Stars splits the NYAH defence for a clean shot on goal during Sunday’s soccer-rama on the Gros Islet Playing Field.
Proving that only real men wear pink, NYAH made a fashion statement and emerged champions in Sunday’s Gros Islet veterans Soccer-rama competition which took place on the Gros Islet Playing Field.

District Representative for Gros Islet Lenard Montoute (L) presented the NYAH captain with the first place trophy.
Football fans came out in large numbers to watch this whole day affair which started at 10am and finished just before darkness set in. Decked out in their pink tops and green pants, NYAH who were unbeaten throughout the tournament defeated Vieux Fort 1-0 in the finals with a goal from Desmond Francis from the penalty spot.

Douglas Mathurin of Vieux Fort was named the Tournament MVP.
After preliminary round robin matches, NYAH and Vieux Fort finished first in their group. Based on tournament rules, teams were allowed to play two players between 35 and 40 with the rest of the team being over the age of 40.

During a brief awards ceremony attended by Minister of Sports and District Representative, Lenard Montoute, Douglas Mathurin of Vieux Fort was named the Most Valuable Player. He scored the most goals in the competition.
