Schools sports action picking up

In the Saint Lucia National Lotteries Netball Tournament, in the Under-16 Division Choiseul Secondary defeated Piaye Secondary 10–5; Garnelle Solomon scoring 19 from 27 attempts for Gros Islet while Haniah Jules Score 5 from 5 for Vide Boutielle.Babonneau Secondary defeated Corinth Secondary 17–12, with Babonneau, Lisa Casimir scored 8 from 17 attempts, and Chartanny Justin 9 from 19. Tiara Justin scored 11 from 12 for Corinth; and in another game, Gros Islet Secondary defeated Vide Boutielle 24–5.

In the Under-19 Netball Division, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary defeated Choiseul Secondary 62–2. For Vieux Fort Joann Anderson scored 32 out of 38 attempts and Jaimie Raveneau 30 out of 35 attempts. Entrepot defeated Bocage Secondary 24–4, Daria Mathurin scoring 13 from 22 atempts and Kentonia Didier 11 from 15 attempts for Entrepot.

In another low-scoring encounter Vide Boutielle Secondary edged out George Charles Secondary 11–10. In football action over at the Vigie Playing Field, Bocage and George Charles Secondary played to a goalless draw in the Under-19 Division, as both teams squandered numerous scoring opportunities, made even more evident when Bocage failed to convert a penalty minutes from time.

In the south Vieux Fort Technocal defeated Choiseul Secondary 8–0. The goal scorers for vieux Fort Technical were Jamil Collymore 4, Dwayne Charles 2, and Bernard Edward and Des Babou  one each. In the Under-16 Football Division, Vieux Fort Technical and Chioseul Secondary played to a 2-2 draw on Friday while on Tuesday Vieux Fort Technical defeated Vieux Fort Comprehensive 1-0 with Quinlan Moree being the goal scorer.

In the Consolidated Foods Limited Basketball Tournament in the Under-16 Division Entrepot got the better of Bocage 21–16. For Entrepot, K Franklin had 9 points, while Hedan Longville with 12 points and 6 rebounds led the Bocage efforts. In the Under-19 Division and in one of the better games played to date Vide Boutielle  Secondary  earned a hard fought and deserved victory over St Mary’s College  by the  narrowest of  margins 68–67.

Indeed it was a combined team effort for Vide Boutielle with Joel Polius and Schneikael Evans scoring 20 points each; Stephen Butcher 14 points,7 Steals, and Denver Hyacinth 12 points and 13 rebounds. For St Mary’s College Sham smith had a game high 34 points and 9 steals in a losing cause, as many celebrated victories, and others endured the pain of defeat.
