Danielle Beaubrun of FGCU Eagles was impressive in a recent meet against the North Florida Swim Team.


Swimming for her Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) “Eagles” team, St Lucia’s Danielle Beaubrun picked up her first individual Gold against the North Florida Swim Team in Jacksonville on November 10.

Swimming the 100M Breaststroke, she placed first with a time of 1:06.40, beating into second place Taylor Crosby of North Florida (1:07.97) and teammate Regina Rodriguez for third (1:08.63).

Beaubrun then picked up her second individual medal with Silver in the 200M Breaststroke with a time of 2:27.17, finishing behind Sara Evans of North Florida (2:26.37).

Her second Gold came in the 200M medley relay. She swam the only sub 30 second Breaststroke leg of the meet with a time of 29.75, as her team won with a time of 1:49.27.

The FGCU swimming & diving team handed Coastal Collegic Swimming Association rival North Florida its’ first loss of the season on Wednesday, 181.5-116.5. With the win, the Eagles improved their dual meet record to 7-3 on the season, 2-0 against CCSA opponents.

Viktoria Hyddmark dominated the competition in her three events, the 200 medley relay, the 100 back, and the 200 back.

Margie Chamberlin also had a strong showing for the Eagles. Chamberlin finished first in her first event, the 200 fly, winning by almost four seconds (2:05.68). Then, in the 100 free, Chamberlin earned a third-place finish with a time of 54.96. Chamberlin took home her second individual win for the day in the 100 fly (58.77).

Myriam Plante picked up a pair of wins for the Eagles, winning the 200 free (1:56.17) and the 200 IM (2:06.79).

The Eagles will now spend a few weeks in preparation for one of their biggest meets of the year, the 16th annual Miami Invitational, hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. FGCU finished fourth at the event in 2007 and improved to second place last year. The three-day competition begins December 3 and wraps up December 5.
