Cricket quarter-final matches continue this weekend

The St Lucia National Cricket Association/ SMJ Beverages 20/20 Knockout Cricket competition continues to gain momentum, with the crowd which gathered at the Dennery Playing Field being thoroughly entertained on and off the field.
Cyril Charles stole the spotlight on Saturday as he hammered 104 for Fruta Mx Mon Repos in a 119 run demolition of Kool Kids Laborie Explorers, in the last of the preliminary round matches.
Earlier in the day, Caribbean Cool Gros Islet Masters defeated Island mist Mabouya Valley Conquerors by 48 runs. The match was reduced to 15 overs due to early morning showers.
In the summarized scores, Caribbean Cool Masters 138 for seven. Ken Crafton top scored with 25. In the bowling department for Island Mist Mabouya Valley Conquerors, Paccus Alexander was three for seven. In reply, Island Mist registered 90 for five with Ricardo Louision recording bowling figures of three for nine.
The play of the match was Richard Peter’s stumping of Seram Elfridge while the longest six went to Crafton. Playing against Kool
Kids Laborie Explorers, Fruta Max Mon Repos Warriors posted 229 for four. Cyril Charles hit for 104 while Aloysius Fontenelle chipped in with 51. Kool Kids could only tally 110 for seven with Darren Jn Pierre posting 21. The Play of the Match was Aubrey Johnny’s run out of Haysel Charlery while the longest six went to Cyril Charles.
Quarter-final action Sunday belonged to Busta South Castries Lions batsman Alex Antoine. He carved out a stroke filled 106, decorated with eight fours and six sixes, to lift his team to a nine run win over Fruta Cuta Canaries Stars.
Busta South Castries Lions went 178 for three. Besides Antoine’s 106, Garey Mathurin scored 25. Fruta Cuta Canaries All Stars registered 169 for nine with Bradley Tisson knocking 56 and Ked Cadasse 25.
In the final game of the day, Tampico Central Castries Kings pulled off a nail biting two wicket win over Classic Cola Choiseul Magicians. Batting first Classic Cola made 150 with Jason Simon and Chris Pamphille each scoring 33. In the bowling department, Edly
George was four for 25 and Allen Prosper three for 15.
Tampico Central Castries Kings made 155 for the loss of eight. Thomas Elcock top scored with 35 with Sheldon Thorpe contributing 28 and Edly George 27. In the bowling department, Bronte Bess was three for 25. Play of the Day, a terrific catch by Alvin Prosper to dismiss Chris Pamphille. The longest six came from the bat of Edly George.
The last two quarter-final matches and the semi-finals will be played this weekend in Dennery.
