Johnny Calderon of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs was the top male swimmer at the Bob Eynon Senior Division Championships.
St Lucia’s two senior swimmers overseas, Johnny Calderon and Daniel Beaubrun helped their respective schools, University of Western Ontario and Florida Gulf Coast University, to major victories on the College swimming circuit.
Calderon, who swims for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs in Canada, was the top Male swimmer at the Bob Eynon Senior Division Championships on November 16 where he captured three gold medals in the 50M Back (27.77), 50M Fly (26.92), 50 Free (24.40) and two relay silvers in the Freestyle and Medley relay.
Mustangs head coach Paul Midgley was naturally pleased with his team’s performance and looked forward to their upcoming meets.
“It gets a lot tougher from here,” Midgley said. “While these are good results for this point in the season, we face a bit of a reality check with next week’s University Challenge followed by the Canada Cup.”
The final team scores were: Western Ontario, 2054.5; Waterloo, 1208; Ottawa, 1150; Brock, 750.5; Wilfred Laurier, 681; Trent, 324.

Danielle Beaubrun of Florida Gulf Coast University came through with another outstanding performance for her school.

The Eagles held off a field that featured schools from major Division One conferences (Illinois and Cincinnati) as well as some of the nation’s top Division Three schools (Emory and Denison).
Beaubrun placed first in the “B” Final of the 100 yard Breast (1:04.80) and second in the “B” final of the 200 Yd breaststroke (2:23.29) and her team placed fourth in the 200 Yd Medley relay and 5th in the 400 Yd medley relay. Oakland (1008 points) and Illinois (1004) rounded out the top five, followed by Denison (919), Cincinnati (735), and Wright State (608), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (213) and Tsinghua University (72).
