New York State Education Department accredits Spartan

The Spartan Health Sciences University, School of Medicine is now celebrating a monumental achievement.

The Dean of the University, Dr Gurumurthy is pleased to announce that the New York team has agreed that the medical program at Spartan Medical School has substantially met all the requirements of the regulators of the commissioner of New York Education Department. The team has fully accredited the University and will report to the Regent of the New York State.

The accreditation process began in May 2009 when the accreditation team made its first visit to the school and another in the first week in December. The visiting team consisted of four doctors and an executive secretary who carried out thorough inspection of various aspects of the operation of the school. These included administration procedures, resources, curriculum, student involvement and facilities.

The visiting team recognized the high standards of medical education being provided by Spartan University to all its students.
The Dean sees the accreditation as a great feat and hopes that in the future the school will be affiliated to more hospitals in New York State and get accreditation from other State Medical Boards, where its student will be able to do clinical training.

“Very few schools in the Caribbean have this type of accreditation,” Dr Gurumurthy said.
The University is particularly proud that it will be recommended for full accreditation with no conditions.

The Dean thanked the administrator, faculty, management and all staff for their dedication and commitment in working hard towards this achievement.
