Police raid on the compound on March 17.

45-year-old Julian Adjodha alias Jag and his wife 41-year-old Moeita have been charged with Possession of Controlled Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply. Julian Adjodha is also charged separately with Importing Controlled Drugs.

The Adjodha’s were charged on Thursday April 7 in connection with the 93.9lbs of cannabis found on March 17 on the couple’s business compound at Beausejour in Gros Islet.  The drugs were found hidden in sealed metal barrels containing dishwashing liquid and are valued at EC$75,200.  The couple made their first appearance in court on Friday April 8 before a magistrate.

It has taken three weeks for the police to prefer a charge in this matter.  There has been much public debate over why the couple was not charged immediately.  Police sources say although the drugs were found on the compound, the manner in which the drugs were discovered, that is in sealed barrels stored in shipping containers received from overseas, the police had to establish the proprietors had knowledge of the contents of the barrels before they could be formally charged.

As we go to press the STAR has learned the Adjodha’s have secured two Jamaican Queen’s Counsel’s to represent them.

I have been out of the country for a while, but I went to SMC with some Adjodha from Anse La Raye, wondering if this is the same family. Why are they brining lawyeres from Jamacia to defend them? Is it because they do not trust the ones we have in SLU?

  6. Tashaii says:

It was time they started to charge the “Big Fish” not just the little fella’s in the Getto’s, no partiallity, The law is not just for poor people who can’t afford to give “money” to keep themselves for goiing to jail. They need to arrest more of them who THINK they can get away, because they have friends in so called “High Places” (no pun intended.)

I hope they “bring down the house” and point fingers at all involved in this drug ring. I look forward to the day when the guys in kahki that do the “wheeling and dealing” get exposed.

      • johnny says:

Wow finally the police did some real work. But we all know how the system go, ill be surprised if they do any real time like someone said earlier.

      • sunshine says:

OK seriouly how do u think the police j
knew about the drugs ………… if they were not informed. And futhermore if there is nothing to hide why not cut the barrel open for them to see the content. It is the little thinks that bring the big ones .

AN OLD LADY WAS CAUGHT WITH 98 PLANTS OF GANJA AND SHE ISSUED A LICENSE TO SHOW IT WAS LEGAL,THEY DISCHARGE HER BUT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE.

    • Tashaii says:

I agree, Bare Hypocrites………Why does Marijuana offend soooooooo many people. We say we go to church and that we are spiritual people. Who created Marijuana anyways,??? is’nt it the same God that we pray to and we say that all of his works are good,???????? hey, well, some one, please tell God that he made a mistake then in creating it.(Maybe not for smoking, or drining, or eating……) Mankind has it all wrong….ALL OF GODS WORKS ARE PERFECT. Legalize it………they would prefer if persons smoked ciggarettes instead. – Hypocrites.

  11. sue sue says:

well done police officers, get the high ranking drug barons on our island,we know them,so de police show no them to.lets get those big shorts in drugs.this is a warning this new woman in charge eh eating nice.jamaican lawyer more into drugs too,he have nuff lawyer on the island, that can represent dem dealers to go to jail..

  12. Botox says:

A drug business man caught. I wonder just how many more of this business men operate in St. Lucia? Sometimes it is so glaring obvious just who the players are, so maybe the dominos have started to fall and more big cat business men will be making friends at the bullallday hotel where some new trades and dealers will be introduced.

On another note I have to say that the absence of violent crime in St. Lucia since the police crack down on the Bad Johnny Ringos is very welcomed news. Looks like the law is alive now.

  13. CECE says:

NO DRUGS NO PROBLEM!!.. HOPE THEY DO THE TIME …SLOW BUT SURE, LETS NOT SHOUT TOO FAST.

  14. Clean up time says:

“the Adjodha’s have secured two Jamaican Queen’s Counsel’s to represent them.”

Queen’s Counsels will probably save their sorry butts, but I am confident that the “St-lucia’s court of public opinion” will ensure that they take their drug peddling @@####*** and move to Jamaica. Let us make it our business that them including their network and their drug habit find no resting place in SLU.

  15. Steve says:

My Mother always tell me, never get jealous of what you see other people have especially when you know you’re working just as hard or harder than them and yet they seem to have much much more. She would say, son, cause you never know what other ways they get what they have and, how and if they sleep well at all. She would continue…A small drop in the bucket will eventually fill it up and beging to overflow…good or bad

Good lesson here, Be Sure Your Sins Will Find You Out. Shake in your Boots, those in High/low-Heels. Question is, which one of you is next.

  16. imbert bailey-small says:

bravo police officers saint lucians salute you let justice be done

  17. whatever says:

    Good job SLU police

  18. lucia 4-life says:

Congratulations to the Royal St.Lucia Police Force this one seems like a break through hope all sticks and we can see those individuals do some jail time.

  19. no name says:

  20. TOOT TOO BOOSHE' says:

PAX! PAX! BIG UP TO THE POLICE! Manny Ramirez, Jose Conseco, Mark McGuire, Walter Francois…All were cheats/misrepresented their crudentials whether athletically or academically….athletes, politicians and now businessmen! Not saying that the couple are guilty…they still have a day in court. With the best lawyers money can buy couple with an incompetent public prosecutor, and probable innocence they might get off. What I really want to praise is the move by the police to expose the cheaters among us! Expose the People who did not work HONESTLY for their wealth posing like they are the epitome of success!CHEATERS! CHEATERS! CHEATER!

    • zapon says:

Even though he gets free-up by “de system,” his name done get blemish and Lucians never forget. Mr. Officer…now that you have started, please don’t stop. There are many more in this corrupt system of ours. Lucians,I know that many of you all are afraid to report illicite acts to the police because of the corruption that haunts our Police Dept. But…we need to sue-sue pon dem. That’s the only way we will get rid of bad elements and clean up our beautiful country. E Bon!

      • TOOT TOO BOOSHE' says:

Notice how his “temporary” lawyers were trying the case in the media? Hey is the Labour Party’s candidate for Choseul defending the businessman found with a Huge haul of Contraband? Is the labour candidate for choseul defending possible drug dealers? Does the labour party have a statement on one of its candidates defending such a high profile drug case?

        • AVOCAR says:

hey this is babylon this is how they set it,their shitstem actually educated him to perform this job…its not a labour…uwp thing…..its a babylonian thing.sometimes we just have to put our face in our vomitts.god created ganja and the system made it illegal… god made man for woman..and the system put it legal for a man to marry a next man.u getting the mixx…open ur eyes CARELESS ETHIOPIAN…a ride fi ur money make u funny.

  23. big nate says:

avocar get your facts straight # 1 obama never said or hinted, that he would legalize weed.# 2 dc,cali, colorado,u can grow medical weed, with restrictions and a licence from the state, and a doctors prescription.#3 and most of all under federal law weed is illegal and fedral law takes presedent over state law.good job cops lets cut the snakes head bravo.

    • AVOCAR says:

@big nate shut ur mouth and comprehend b4 u argue..note:I SAID WEED WAS LEGAL TO SOME EXTENT.which can mean for medicinal, personal wateva…i have frenz in cali and it is legal for anyone to have atleast an OZ on their person even without a license.and wat do u know about politicians and their empty promises,OBAMA did state that he inhale ganja in his teenage yrs he was just signifying his affiliation with ganja and yes he did tell the americans in his false promise that he wud have legislation on ganja, and wateva legilation there is on ganja rite now it the states it had nothing to do with OBAMA.have u ever seen the slogan (yes we CANNABIS) with OBAMA picture.i live in canada i get U.S news

  24. Drip says:

Y’all really shooting too early. No one has been found guilty yet … chill out.

  25. Luciangal says:

How many more business owners are paying off the police. The gov’t should give some kind of incentive to officer so they don’t have to take payoffs from big drug dealers. Proof that this Adjodha guy was dealing drugs is, hiring lawyers from Jamaica. GUILTY!!!!

  26. Big nate says:

Yes oh yes a canadian telling us how our laws work here in the us ,lol

  27. deborah emmanuel says:

Lets hope the proposal to seize the assets of drug dealers becomes reality/law…these guys would lose their business over these charges, if proven. Its a good deterent overseas in the US and UK, and seized assets are sold and the proceeds go to charity.

It makes the value of the drugs in the barrels look small compared to the loss through sale of their home and business…..

  28. London boy with looshan roots says:

    “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY”

We can continue to talk and write about the arrest and subsequent charging of Ahjodha and his wife. However we must remember that they are both “innocent until proven guilty”.

Shame on those who have already inferred that Ahjodha and his wife are guilty.

    • Child of the future says:

Sure Lucian Boy Living In London!

So the Jamaican heavy hitters can prove that is was seamoss in dey.

The detergent was to soak up the seamoss so that the seamoss could a age.

No wonder you did not get an invite to Will’s thing.

      • Child of the future says:

        No, Irishmoss.

      • London boy with looshan roots says:

        Child of the future,

Irrespective of the charges, Julien Adjodha and his wife are “Innocent until proven guilty”. They will have their day in court. It is irresponsible of you and others to assume that Julien Adjodha and wife are guilty. This makes the job of selecting a jury even more difficult.

    • MAD-SLU says:

BS. It does not take a brain Surgeon to figure this out. All you will need is an asset history. Let’s See the IRS (or whatever they are called in Lucia) do thier job).

  29. Judge Dread says:

Well done officers job well done but, you are let down by custom officers its beyond belief that a custom officer gave the clearance infact the green light,as its customs rule to open every piece of luggage, every box, every barrel this calls for a investigation heads must roll.
during the Christmas season many people have barrels sent by their families and they have to go stand by and watch customs & excise searching their barrels from top to bottom looking for electrical equipment what shame.

  30. King Junior Stewart says:

I have to just laugh, but it good so still. Why are people going thru the trouble of importing weed into the island when they can buy the locally grown high grade wish is now considered in many circles worthy of GOLD STANDARD. They growing the herb in ice cold Alaska figure the rest out. $enial is $ood for $usiness, $ery $ood.

    • Botox says:

Fond St. Jacques should be renamed Fond St. Ganja, the high top mountains and hidden valleys are herbed to the hilt. The fellas coming from under the bush have read eyes and look very relaxed and content. I must say weed smokers appear more intelligent and aware compared to their white rum drinking cousins, who are always fighting or harassing some poor woman with their flammable vapour laden breath.

  31. PrecoiusMe says:

Finally..now wouldn’t that be funny if the “Controlled substance” came in from Jamaica!

  32. kasha says:

i think its high time a big gun had to be busted because the small guys take all the heat while they sleep in their mansions.i just pray the law will be executed because too many times they escape and teach them that bordelais is for all

  33. David Vicar Vitalis says:

All you that saying that the herb comes from God & why are we looking at the little man.. True it is created by the Almighty and there are benefits from drinking it, however; you think any of these guys are thinking of the betterment of our Nation. These guys are thinking of only fattening up their bank balances irrespective of who they destroy along the way. Job well done to the police/customs so far. Let’s hope that you guys crossed all your T’s and dotted your I’s.
Mr DPP the show is all yours.
