As visitors to St Lucia drive around the island their taxi driver signals them to look to the right. “And this is the Barre de Lisle,” says the driver. “What’s that there?” the visitor asks. The taxi driver hesitates. “Oh that’s a sign with bullet holes in it,” he finally admits shamefully. It’s one of those things that sticks out like a sore thumb as you drive along the island’s west coast. Why it has not been taken down as yet is anyone’s guess, after all the information on the sign is hardly readable anymore. Wonder if the European Development Fund knows that the sign for the project they funded seems now to be more a symbol of violence than anything else.

Makes me wonder too….it has lost its beauty.
But it shows me as well, that civil construction can be well done to protect human life (in that case).
I believe a lot more has to be done to protect people’s life on that beautiful island.
Not only construction-wise, also mentally and from the bottom of your hearts.
Take care, joe
GUESS A FEW PRIVATELY OWNED SHOOTING RANGES MIGHT BE A GOOD INVESTMENT IN ST.LUCIA…GIVE THE TRIGGER HAPPY THUGS A PLACE TO OFF LOAD THEIR BIG GUNS.
So that they can become better at what they do so recklessly? There are a couple of practice ranges in existence, but the clientele are not the louts that contemplate shooting signs!
Sad to see that lovely house. That house looks like it had a personal touch by the owner, with all the matching bright colours.
A house is anyone’s greatest investment during life, and sad to see it go … just like that.
But altleast they had the opportunity to salvage the parts unlike countless others.
