CNN and other news sources are reporting the death of singer Whitney Houston. The legendary singer was 48 years old.

MSNBC reported that “Conflicting accounts emerged Saturday about how Whitney Houston was found dead. Rapper Ray J, through his publicist, denied an earlier report from a close friend who said he found her dead. The cause of death and where she died were not immediately known.”

Houston’s website reported that the singer had long struggled with addiction.

“Her body of work includes seven straight Billboard No. 1 hits in the 1980s, including “Saving All My Love for You,” “Greatest Love of All” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.” Billboard puts her soundtrack to the movie “The Bodyguard” as one of the top 10 biggest-selling albums of all time. She also starred in the film,” reported MSNBC.

The report goes on: “The daughter of singer Cissy Houston, Whitney was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Famed music producer Clive Davis reportedly spotted Houston 20 years later in a New York nightclub, signing her on the spot, according to her website.

“Houston had a high-profile and tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown, a former “New Edition” star.

Readers will recall that Houston attracted a lot of attention when she visited St Lucia some years ago with her family.

All the beautiful and talanted artist seem to die young. Jackson, St. Lucia’s Winehouse and now Whitney. The world is getting uglier everyday, only ugly people live forever.

…….and since you are still living you can call yourself exhibit “A”. St lucia’s Winehouse or did you mean St Lucia’s Wineout.

  4. Inspire says:

Whitney Houston has been my idol ever since I was a little girl. It gave me great joy and still does to sing her songs “off key” but then again there was only one Whitney. I was crushed when I heard of her passing, such a talented and beautiful woman. She certainly left her mark in this world.Surely God had other plans for her and now her work here has ended.
My heart goes out to her family, friends and true fans ‘like me’ and may her soul rest in perfect peace…R.I.P. Whitney Houston!! ‘I will always love you!!’

A great loss the likes we might never see again in this generation. Thank God we still have these female sopranos left Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight, Pattie Labelle and Jessye Norman the field is quite narrow. Oh Whitney Baby. That’s why you have to live your life clean (if you care) because no matter how great you become people will only remember you for the negative. I frame her first album already and hang it up beside Michael Jackson, Teddy Pendergass, Luther Vandross, and Bob Marley anybody who have Steve Wonder the “Key Of Life” or Learie Carasco demo “Chickaroo” I will pay big money for it.

  6. Phillys Wilson says:

I have trained myself not to focus on the negatives, in as much as there had been a problem with Whitney for some years in her life, I look at the part of her life where she was a positive influence on the black women like me, who love to sing, she gave some many people the inspiration to go out there and sing out your soul to the world, make people happy, what happened to her is tragic and can happen to anyone, especially taking into consideration, that when you hit fame you no longer own yourself, if you catch my drift, many of the stars are destined to doom, I wonder why? or do I already know why? I’m afraid to say, this is not the last we are gonna see of this, Rest Whitney.

Human failure should never be tossed under the bridge of life because it should be a reminder of why we need to strive for better and never make the same mistake more than once for life is short and time wasted can never be regained but uesd as a stipin stone of yesterdays ignorance and recklessness end of story

      • Phillys Wilson says:

Hence the reason for the word “FOCUS” I didn’t say that we should not learned lessons from the misfortunes of others, and the mistakes of our past, but I do not focus on it, I look at the brighter side, and let this be my inspiration to become better. I know it’s the mistakes of our past and that of others that makes us stronger, although not all of us unfortunately, because I cannot speak for everyone obviously. Others may have a totally different opinion that I do, and I also respect everyone’s opinion and gain from everyone’s positive attitude the best way possible. Like I said what happened to Whitney may very well already be happening to someone we know, & have no idea that it is.

A tremendous talent, gone way too soon :(

As a St. Lucian living in Canada who regularly read the star, particularly peoples’ comments on various articles, I am touched and deeply moved by the words written by Inspire, King Junior Stewart and Phillip Wilson (above). Good Job!

Thank you so much for those heart felt sentiments. Whitney herself would be very pleased.

In my opinion, humanity’s conciousness is ever improving by the messengers of God and like many who have come before, Whitney Huston’s voice was yet another example towards than end (despite our imperfections).

R.I.P – You came to deliver your message…Thank you!

  9. Botox says:

She wanted a new sensation, so in came the chemical experimentations. When you buy into the concept of fame, that you are famous and powerful, you end up becoming retarded (stupid). You crave the approval and certification of yourself from outside, very unhealthy. Her last days captured on video showed a drunk who kept forcing her way into the work of other artist, very pathetic.
