Courts helps soca artistes, calypsonians and musicians for Carnival 2012!

Courts St Lucia has launched their “Courts Carnival Campaign” for the 2012 Carnival season. The event which took place at the Courts Chausee branch in Castries yesterday saw four major participants in this year’s Calypso, Groovy, Inter-Commercial and Panaroma competitions receive sponsorship amounting to more than EC$35, 000.
OECS Director of Marketing for Courts, Mrs Lorraine Sidonie says Courts has played an integral role in Carnival 2012. She says the company has seen it culturally fit to align the brand with the greatest festival in St Lucia.
“We are going to write our new Calypso entitled, “Courts in Carnival.” First verse, we start off with our Carnival promotion and it is dubbed, “Carnival Deals.” We have some fantastic deals for consumers. There is nothing down and nothing to pay for thirty days, a chance to win costumes, tickets, products reduced and some fantastic deals throughout the store,” said Sidonie while adding, “In this promotion, Courts features Quincy “Pringles” Griffith or better known as Superman HD.”
Courts St Lucia has utilized the talents of Griffith for a number of years now, dating back to the nineties even before the renowned radio announcer was a strong contender for the Groovy or Power Soca Monarch of St Lucia Carnival.
“All I really wanted to say was thanks to Courts,” said Griffith before he was handed an envelope containing his sponsorship cheque.
“We are like a family. From the start until now, when I came in, I was embraced by the likes of Mrs Sidonie. I wasn’t Superman then, I was simply Quincy coming in as an MC and doing something for Courts. I have not yet won the crown. Not the groovy, not the Power but still Courts have been standing by me right there throughout and I would like to say thank you very much. It has been a pleasure doing all of these commercials—the Courts Bacchanal this year which I am very fond of because we took our time and penned this one.”
Davis Felix, who this year has made it to the Calypso Finals was also endowing her very own company with much praise as she too collected an envelope containing her sponsored cheque.
“Without Courts I would not be here. This is a fact. I participated in the Inter-Commercial Calypso competition in 2002 and we took home the title in that year and from since that time Courts has been behind me 120 percent. You would hear artiste say that it is very, very costly to take part in these competitions and that is a fact as well.
“Without the sponsorship and support of Courts, this would not be possible. I went into the Big Yard and I have had the support of my Marketing Director, Mrs Sidonie and the entire Courts team which I am very appreciative of. This year I have been successful so far to make it to the Finals and my plan is to go out there and to give my best and I would just like to thank Courts sincerely from the bottom of my heart,” said Felix.
Newcomer and Inter-Commercial contestant, Dorcia Fenelon did not have much to say as she collected her envelope but did shower a few words of gratitude upon her sponsors and employers.
“I want to thank my company, my employer for taking the time, effort and money. It costs a lot of money to get where I am,” said Fenelon.
The final recipient of Courts sponsorship was the Courts Babonneau Superstars who will be defending their Panaroma championship title this year. Courts has injected EC$35, 000 dollars into the band as they seek to retain their title.
“We now have a membership of over 60 persons after just starting small. Since Courts came in to sponsor us, we have grown tremendously and successfully winning the title last year. With the continued support we are now receiving from Courts, we intend to win this year’s competition and bring home a second title. So on behalf of the players and the parents, I would really like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Courts. They have been associated with the band from the year 2000 and
we are grateful for all the support over the years,” said Allison Marquis of Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra.
