Elite and Canaries victorious in netball

Elite Strikers (Division One) and Canaries (Division Two) emerged champions, following the conclusion of the 2012 Independence Netball Classic Saturday afternoon at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
In the finals of Division One, Elite Strikers lived up to their name with a convincing 57-35 win over Avengers. In the third place playoff, Soufriere got past Shamrock 47-29.
In the Division Two final which was a highly entertaining affair, Canaries defeated All Stars (Anse la Raye) 35-28. UTL (Micoud) captured the third place playoff with a 32-28 win over St Lucian Eagles.
In other news, netballers are presently training in preparation for St Lucia’s participation in the ECCB sponsored OECS Under-23 Netball tournament to be held in Grenada (date pending) and the AFNA Championships set for Trinidad and Tobago July 14-21.

A mad dash for the ball during the third place playoff between St Lucian Eagles (L) and UTL of Micoud.
