Gros Islet traffic backed up, accident at the Rodney Bay Marina

262

Everyone’s heading to the Beausejour Cricket Grounds tonight for the Saint Lucia Zouk’s first CPL home game. The ever congested traffic leading up to Gros Islet heightens whenever cricket comes along; tonight being no different.

At about 6.50 pm, a light blue Nissan Sunny stationwagon registration number PK1847 collided with the back of  a green and gold Ford Explorer  SUV 7446. Aboard the stationwagon were four occupants, three males and one female. The driver of the vehicle and the woman, who happened to be on the passenger side sustained minor injuries to her hands and legs.  The other two passengers did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of the Ford SUV was the sole occupant at the time and escaped the collision injury free. Requesting anonymity, he spoke  to the STAR, ” I was heading out of the marina with the intention of heading southbound towards Castries. The driver of the vehicle heading north toward Gros Islet gave me a blink signal with his headlamps, he stopped and allowed me to get onto the highway and swing right. There was no vehicle coming in the opposite direction. A little while after swinging onto the highway, I just heard and felt a huge crash at the back of the SUV.”

Upon leaving the scene the police had not yet arrived.
