The Second Inter-School Tennis Tournament drew to a close Saturday with a prize giving ceremony at the National Tennis Centre (NTC). Just over 200 players from various schools around the island competed in the competition which began last Monday.

Corporate Communications Manager at LUCELEC, Roger Joseph said: “On behalf of the company we are very pleased with the turnout and especially happy to see the range of schools and participants of all ages all over the island. We look forward to continue working with the St Lucia Tennis Association and the NTC, in continuing to support this competition and will see what we can do to improve this tournament and obviously tennis in St Lucia.”

Event Officer with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Antonius Calderon, congratulated the players who competed in the tournament and said “your mere presence is a clear indication that you want to move the process forward.”

He went to say: “Sports and by extension tennis is synonymous with individualism and is a vehicle for change in this country. Take the opportunity that has been given to you and embrace it.
