The matchup of two unbeaten Clubs in the Castries Super League (CSL) lived up to expectations, as patrons witnessed a keenly contested and very exciting game on Thursday at the Sab Sporting Facility.
NYAH, sporting one of the younger clubs in the tournament brought the more experienced Police Sports Club back to reality, with an exciting come from behind victory, inflicting the lawmen with their first defeat in four games.
The Police Sports Club brimming with confidence following their three previous wins got off to a bright start. They led 1-0 in the 35thminute, thanks to excellent execution by Shervin Charles on the end of a counter attack, which left NYAH’s Custodian Omari Florenville in no man’s land. From then on both clubs held their own going into the break.
Whatever was said to the youthful NYAH players at the half certainly spurred them on. Their free flowing and penetrative passes paid off with an equalizer from Phillip “Caboo” Ishmael in the 52nd minute.
From then on the Lawmen looked like a shadow of themselves, as the young legs of NYAH pegged them back in search for the winning goal. They did not have long to wait long as Dallan “Turbo” Loctor capitalized on a defensive blunder, to calmly chip the ball over the oncoming police custodian giving NYAH a well deserved 2-1 lead.
The lawmen fought back but some resilient defending, ensured NYAH secured a hard earned three points, taking them to the top of the CSL points table.
Action in the CSL continues at 2:00 pm today (Saturday). That’s when Valley Soccer Club place their unbeaten record on the line against SLFA First Division Club Faux A Chaud. Then at 4:30 pm on Sunday, Agard FC and FC Pioneers square off in search of their first win.
In another game played earlier this week Valley Soccer defeated Agard 2-1. Emmery Edward and Ronald Niles scored for Valley Soccer while Georges Mitchell scored the lone goal for Agard.
