LIME, which is the title sponsor for the 2011 CARIFTA Games currently taking place in Jamaica, introduced the St Lucia track and field team to the media at a press conference Thursday at their Blue Coral outlet.

LIME is contributing close to $10,000, in assisting the St Lucian team with their travel expenses to the CARIFTA Games.

While addressing the athletes and officials, LIME Corporate Communications Executive, Terry Finisterre said: “We at LIME wish you the members of the St Lucian team the very best in Jamaica and assure you that LIME is very proud of what you have accomplished so far and we look forward to you achieving more wonderful things.”

The team which left the island on Thursday, is coached by Henry Bailey and Victoria Despaigne (Cuba), with former President of the St Lucia Athletics Association, Wayne Burton, the Team Manager.

How will St Lucia do at this year’s CARIFTA ?

Burton said: “This time around while I would not want to say the colour of the medals, I would want to indicate that we have targeted at least four medals for the team. We have a 10 member team and expect everyone to achieve their personal best. We have at least four medal hopes.”

Expected on the medal podium is Edward and Charles (pole vault), Scheper (high jump) and Leonce (pentathlon).

There will be live television coverage as well as internet streaming of the competition courtesy of LIME.
