SAINT LUCIANS IN CANADA ASSIST YOUNG ORPHAN

Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Vieux Fort South, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony joined Vieux Fort mayor, Winall Joshua, for a special presentation ceremony at the Vieux Fort South Constituency Council Office on Wednesday, August 20, 2015.

Born in Vieux Fort in 2004, Hossein Constantine had lost his mother by his first birthday. In early 2015, his father passed away as well. The soon-to-be 11-year-old has been taken in by his aunt and grandparents, with whom he lives at Bruce Ville.

Cognizant of the unanticipated burden that Hossein’s family would be facing at this time, Mayor Joshua orchestrated a fund-raising effort to support the young man, who will be entering Grade 6 at Plain View Combined when school reopens in September.

To help Hossein’s guardians procure books, uniforms and supplies, Joshua and his wife, Christine, rallied a number of Saint Lucian citizens resident in Toronto, Canada, who contributed the equivalent of EC$1,328.35 to the resilient student.

Joshua and Prime Minister Anthony presented a cheque in that amount to young Hossein in a brief ceremony. During the course of that ceremony the young man, who is also a fine singer, pledged to continue giving of his best in school to honour his late parents.
