South Castries females are the champions of the inaugural Alicia John 20/20 Knockout competition. The South Castries Lionesses defeated their Choiseul counterparts Sunday under the lights at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

Batting first, South Castries were restricted to 100 for six in 15 overs. The match was eventually reduced to 15 overs following a rain interruption after 10 overs. Heidi Sandiford (21) and Hermina Vitea (19) were the main scorers for the South Castries ladies.

In the bowling department, Dawn Stephen bagged three for three for 34 for Choiseul.

With district representative Lorne Theophilus in attendance, Choiseul made a brisk start, but with the introduction of spin bowlers Teeadie Crawford, Verena Felicien and medium pacer Phillipa Eudovice, Choiseul lost their momentum and were restricted to 86 for six. Maria David top scored with 31.

Bowling for South Castries, Chermeka Abraham sneered three for three for 16.

Preceding the final, Gros Islet defeated Mabouya Valley.

At the brief presentation ceremony the small gathering was addressed by SLNCA president, Julian Charles; third vice president, Elizabeth Williams; and Minister of Tourism, Lorne Theophilus. Alicia John was also on hand to present the Championship Trophy, which also bears her name.

The ladies will now turn their attention to the Acytna Auguste 50 competition.
