St Lucia’s leading female high jumper Levern Spencer will spend the next eight months at the German Sport University which is based in Cologne, Germany.
Spencer’s stay at the IAAF Accredited Training Centre for High Jump was made possible with the assistance of Germany’s NOC President, Thomas Bach, following talks with President of the St Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC), Richard Peterkin.
Spencer’s stay at the institution will be funded entirely by the SLOC at a cost of some 19,000 Euros. The cost of her stay will cover full board and housing, use of facilities, coaching fees, health and third party insurance coverage, physiotherapy and massage, competition expenses and out of pocket allowance.
The world ranked high jumper expected to travel to Cologne, Germany via Atlanta, Georgia Saturday and is expected to remain at the institution until August 30, 2012.
This is a further attempt by the SLOC to ensure that Spencer receives the best possible preparation going into the London Olympics. The Committee wishes her
all the best during her stay in Germany.
