In 2009 the St Lucia Scrabble Association was founded, registered and licensed with Mattel United Kingdom. It was also endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
In May/June 2009, the Association hosted the first National Scrabble Tournament (as a Licensed Association). The event was in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education & Culture.
Vandyke Jude, a lawyer by profession proved he was insuperable by winning the tournament.  Beverley Ann Moses, a Director & Business Industrialist was the Best Female Player.
In 2010 Nyo Serieux a Math Lecturer, won the mammoth trophy donated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The main sponsor was Domino’s Pizza.
The Association has 63 prolific members nationwide. From these numbers, only 10 qualified to represent St Lucia at the Regional Caribbean Scrabble Tourney in Trinidad & Tobago, April 22-26.
This is the first time St Lucia will be involved in this magnificent game of scrabble playing overseas. The Association hopes this might stimulate and motivate more young people to play the game. The tournament is between St Lucia and the Trinidad and Tobago team.St Lucia’s team consists of the following players: Nyo Serieux (St Lucia Scrabble Champion 2010/2011); Herman Gassie  ( second place 2009/2011), Owen Arthur  (third place  2010/2011), Beverley Moses (Best Female Player 2009/2011), Fastus Serieux, Jerry Charles, Dave Charlery, Sydney Dele Enebeli (President, Scrabble Association) and Helena Laurencin ( Vice President Scrabble Association)/ who is a non player.
