Beausejour, GROS-ISLET, September 21, 2014. – The 3rd weekend of the 2014 Bank of St. Lucia Guy Brown Memorial League featured the Junior National team facing off against reigning champions Jetsetters Volleyball in the men’s division, Jetsetters verses Junior Nationals and Dig Set Point vs Le Club Volleyball in the women’s division.

The junior national team had a stiff uphill climb going up against Jesetters led by 2 time world qualifier MVP, Joseph Clercent. The nerves of the youth boys showed in the first set as Jetsetters showed no mercy in the offensive onslaught. The boys received encouragement from the coaches Elvin Germain (Head) and Bernard President (Assistant) which resulted in an obvious show of confidence in the second. The small crowd cheered the boys on despite their loss to the champs.

Keson Edmund let Jetsetters in points scored with 12 points including 3 aces while Noah Didier from the Junior Team registered 6 points which included 2 serve aces.

(men) Jetsetters vs Junior Nationals: (3 – 0) 25 – 11, 25 – 14, 25 – 11

In the women’s division, Jetsetters took on the shorthanded juniors, missing their setter Skye Mondesir and Nikita Greenidge, Middle Blocker. The more experienced Jets sought to make quick work of the juniors holding them to 12 and 13 points in the first two sets. The youth girls took advantage of a few changes to the jets line up in the third set, making it a drawn out battle. Despite the fight, the final result was a straight set win for Jetsetters.

Jetsetters Kerin Neptune led with 7 points, 5 kills and 2 aces.

(women) Jetsetters vs Junior Nationals: (3 – 0) 25 – 13, 25 – 12, 27 – 25

The final match of the weekend matched Dig Set Point’s A teams versus the defending champions, Le Club. What was expected to be a quick win for Le Club after holding DSP to 8 points in the first set, turned out surprisingly different as Le Club got a run for their money losing the third set 25-27. Le Club quickly regrouped and easily won the 4th and final set 25-6.

Samantha Reid racked up 17 points (12 kills, 2 aces) in the Le Club win while Natasha Charlemagne acquired 6 for Dig Set Point (4 kills, 2 Blocks).
