To Understand and to Misunderstand

160

Anyone who ventures to understand some things in his own words will misunderstand some things, if not everything.
Let me for verification paraphrase this idea, since truth would not be accepted by all yet by some, we cannot condemn what is misunderstood by many.
It is this: “It is easy to multiply words without knowledge.” In other words there are many people who do just that, by the things they say, or the things they write. Now, every genuine Bible student will tell you that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge.
The word fear means to respect God that is to acknowledge Him. Solomon says thus; “Lean not upon your own understanding, therefore, who is he who speaks without a fear of God, but one who has no knowledge of Him. Such a person would not know God though he may know of God, which is not the same thing. God is the source of all knowledge and wisdom. Yes, God is mighty in the strength of His understanding as Job tells us. Yet God despises no one.
Christians obey the principles that God has laid down for mankind to follow. So many who oppose the rule of law that the Christian follows and whose sensitivities regurgitate will be offended by truth. To get to the bottom of this problem, one must understand that everyone holds views that he thinks is superior to others without providing facts. It is therefore not surprising that a person could be bold enough and presumptuous to insinuate that truth is myth or error. Such an individual will invariably criticize those who support moral rectitude. By this the individual only proves that he either has no knowledge of his origin or just does not want to know.                 According to God’s word the person who disregards instruction (knowledge) is a fool.
Without beating around the bush, it is evident that the writer who has stepped out to champion same sex marriage, in the issue of the STAR Newspaper of May 12, 2012 has delved into some things that he cannot now understand. This is what he had to say on the matter: “If I didn’t know any better, I would actually believe them, (meaning that same sex marriage is wrong).
I can only talk of knowing better now that I have managed to liberate myself from the shackles of religious beliefs and the crippling effect it has on one’s ability to reason and think rationally and critically. It is so easy to criticize; it does not take an intelligentsia to do so. By that same token of presumed liberality one can still remain in shackles.
The God of this creation, earth and man says that the truth shall make you free. It is a freedom from the misguided concepts of human reasoning and didactics that deceives most. The claims of common sense, logic and reasoning can only be true when the individual is guided by divine turpitude.
Believe it or not, Christians cry out not against the gay society, but against their lifestyles, the practices that brought condemnation upon the anti-diluvium world and against Sodom and Gomorrah. These stories are true and it is only if one is like the Iranian President that one would deny the facts of the Bible.
The cry is a warning against deeds that are repulsive to a Holy God, because man refuses to obey His law of love-His commandments. Understand this friend it is the same common sense, logic and reasoning that enables the Christian to make the application that points to the fact that the relation between these immoral practices and giving license to such marriages are the same. Both break God’s moral law. The act is perversion and can never be accepted by God. The spurious charge by the writer that the Christians are all wrong is a beautiful dichotomy of words that attempts to make of none effect the standards set by God in the beginning. Christian beliefs do not ignore logic, because it relies on faith; because to every man is given a measure of faith, therefore it is gift from God which my friend has but is not aware of it. This lack of knowledge is so evident that my friend tries to put belief and faith in the same category. The devil believes and trembles, but does not have faith in God.                 Faith is described as the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11: 1) Faith does wonder every day in the lives of many people that many are unaware of unless someone speaks about the events.
Faith is not a religious belief of itself, it a gift of God which causes the genuine believer to trust Him. Delusion, pride and a penchant for wanting to appear to support the joneses causes one to dismiss what he cannot understand. Barack Obama’s turn-over to the support of same sex marriage is nothing but political expedience that is practiced by many politicians in the modern world today. It does not make it right.
If one wants be the mouthpiece for the memory of judgment, he must first be truthful and ask himself the question, “am I sure that the knowledge I have is consistent with wisdom and understanding? Is it consistent, verified facts, and truth, and is it unquestionable knowledge?
Either speculatively or provisionally there is conscience that everyone relies upon to determine and reveal factors that do not range on pure logic, reason or partial understanding. Ask yourself where does logic come in to determine that adultery, rape, incest, murder, theft, corruption; cheating, embezzlement and lying are wrong. It is the person that does not accept reality that is quick to rein judgment upon others without being able to prove that he is right. My friend the word Christian emanates from followers of Christ {Jesus Christ}.                 Christians are always invited to imitate Him by word, thought and action. Of course many Christians have not lived up to these expectations and therefore have tarnished the name of Christianity by their false practices.
Yes, indeed emotive feelings when expressed can destroy the true message that one wishes to convey as it creates similar behavior in the person who disagrees with a particular practice or belief.
To be a Christian means to be Christ-like, so I agree that one should not be that emotional as to sound like condemning another person without justification. No, however, it is not how right the Christian think he is, but how right God is who created man in His own image and likeness. It means then that the legalization of same sex marriage defies the standards of morality that God has established for man to live by.          To be an accomplice in a crime committed, places that individual in the same bracket as the person who committed the offense. Read carefully, Jude 7-10; Genesis 19: 24, 25.         Then understand this, God cannot be mocked for whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. Proverbs 3: 5, 6 says; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Understand this, the Christian believer, the one who has faith in God cannot depend upon human measurement to judge matters of the flesh far less spiritual matters.
We are to trust Him for guidance, for greater knowledge and understanding in doing things in life. We are commanded to let Him direct us in all our paths of life and not just the spiritual alone. Consider this statement; a frequently misunderstood truism about religion is that many believe that all professed Christians depend upon their religion to practice faith.
It is totally wrong, because it is resolute in Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of one’s faith until the end.
It is a dangerous misconception used glibly, ignorantly, or deliberately by those detractors of religion who desire to contradict others and sometimes even themselves of blind belief in tradition.
Homosexuality and Lesbianism are both abhorrent to God; therefore the human race, (‘homo sapiens’) can only grasp it, when he/she has been able to despise those practices that degrade mankind.
Finally, let us consider the words of a notable writer in the 20th century, in 1922 he wrote; “The entire history of progress is a moral drama, a tale man might unfold in a great autobiography, could his myriad heads and countless scintilla’s of consciousness conspire like the seventy Alexandrian sages, in a single version of truth committed to each for interpretation. What themes would prevail in such an examination of hearts? George Santayana.
