A tropical storm warning has been issued for St. Lucia as Tropical Storm Bertha formed in the atlantic late last night.

AT 5:00 AM TODAY THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM BERTHA WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 13.0 NORTH…LONGITUDE 57.0 WEST OR ABOUT 240 MILES OR 445 KILOMETERS EAST SOUTHEAST OF ST. LUCIA.

BERTHA IS MOVING TOWARDS THE   WEST NORTHWEST NEAR 20 MPH OR 31 KM/H. ON THIS COURSE, BERTHA IS EXPECTED TO PASS NEAR THE WINDWARD ISLANDS BY THIS AFTERNOON. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 45 MPH OR 75 KM/H WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 45 MILES OR 75 KM FROM THE CENTER.
THE MET SERVICES IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL STORM BERTHA.
THE NEXT ADVISORY WILL BE ISSUED AT 11:00 AM TODAY.
TWO TROPICAL WAVES LOCATED OVER THE EASTERN AND CENTRAL ATLANTIC ARE MOVING WESTWARD NEAR 21 MPH OR 33 KM/H.

A tropical storm warning means tropical storm conditions are expected in the area within the next 48 hours.
