26 more Saint Lucian farmers headed to Canada

More Saint Lucians are set to take up employment in the Canadian Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme. On May 12 fifty nationals left the island on a chartered flight to Canada, where the Department of Labour says they will be employed for 2 years and 8 months on farms in Ontario.

In a statement today, Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour Stephenson King announced that more farmers are set to leave. “Earlier today a group of sixty-six (66) Dominican Nationals arrived in Saint Lucia via Port Castries en route to Canada. After being processed by Customs and Port Health Authorities, the Dominicans will be transferred to the Hewanorra International Airport where they will meet a group of twenty-six Saint Lucians.
