Commemoration of “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women”

The theme for this year’s campaign is “Prevention”. One in three women has experienced physical and sexual violence in their lifetime. It is time to take action and put an end to the violence against women! November 25th each year is observed as “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in his message stated “Break the silence”! When you witness violence against women and girls, do not sit back. Act!

Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia calls on women, men and children to unite and join us in a march on Wednesday November 25th, 2015. Our assembly point is at Serenity Park from 2.00 PM, at the end of the march we congregate at the Derek Walcott Square, where a vigil will be held.

All participants for the March are to wear orange, purple or black.

Orange brings awareness to the elimination of violence against women, it symbolises a brighter future without violence, Purple signifies peace, courage, survival, honour and dedication to ending violence and Black in memory of victims who are no longer with us.
Everyone has a role to play in preventing and ending violence against women and children. Join us as we continue the fight to eradicate the violence acts against our women and girls.
