On Thursday, March 3, 2016 about 7:30 p.m. a multi-jurisdictional inter-agency operation in the south of the island resulted in the arrest of two (2) Saint Lucians and one (1) Vincentian on a local go-fast vessel which was about to land controlled drugs into Saint Lucia. During the operation which comprised maritime, aerial and land assets; four (4) bales and five (5) bags of compressed cannabis weighing 97.3 kilos (214lbs) were discovered and seized after it was jettisoned from the go-fast vessel. A further 1.4 kilos (3lbs) was discovered on the person of one of the suspects. One of the suspects received a single gunshot wound to the leg. The suspect was transported to St. Jude Hospital for medical treatment. No police officer was shot or injured during the operation and United States Assets were not involved in this operation. Charges are expected to be laid soon.
