We see the symptoms everyday such as confusion and disorientation. For a long time friends have been trying to peddle the idea that carnival is great for the economy. I, on the other hand have never bought into the belief because its effects are simply self-evident. Purchase of some grog, few loin cloths and some sparkle is going to heat up the economy so much that it would create a red hot economy. I don’t think so. Sure there is some money made but no one counts the ensuing loss of work. The very fact that tourist are there is coincidental because the cruise ships planning is ahead of the local carnival folks.
