I don’t get this thing about revealing it at his expense. The open talk about the project was not to engage public discourse on it but rather to boast about what he was supposedly achieving for the country. He shouldn’t cry when drive for attention brings attention he would prefer not to deal with.
This article suggests that PM Chastanet should have aspired to make decisions without having to deal with the scrutiny of the public simply because the SLP happened to get away with it; a poor standard for governance.
