The Amy’s Gift to Saint Lucia Music Project is having an End of Year Concert to showcase the music talents of the young persons at the Boys Training Centre and Dunnottar School. The free concert is scheduled for Sunday 28th June, 2015 at 3:00pm at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School. In addition, there will be performances from local band Kosmik Riddim.
Teaching started in September 2014, undertaken by Mr. John Polius, professional musician and music teacher. The funding was for 654 hours of tuition with Mr. Polius spending half of his time at Dunnottar School and half at the Boys Training Centre.
The Amy Winehouse Foundation funding has provided the musical instruments, the services of a music teacher and drug awareness training for a one year period. By this September another EC $50,000 needs to be raised to pay for the on-going music teacher’s salary, new instruments, re-tuning the steel pans and sustaining the drug awareness programme. The Music Project needs sponsors and private donations for the second year beginning September 2015, and for subsequent years, to ensure on-going success. Please show support by attending the free concert and, where possible, promising aid.
