Another Choice face says Good-bye!

Barely one week after Timothy Poleon said good-bye to Choice TV, another leading staffer has packed his kit and left the station. The latest walkout was staged by popular reporter and The Journalist panelist Miguel Fevriere. Asked why he resigned, he said he “just was not happy with the new directions the station has taken, especially in recent times.” The station has been closely associated since the last general elections with the ruling St. Lucia Labour Party. It featured the SLP’s Red Zone during the party’s 2011 election campaign, with Jadia JnPierre-Emmanuel, and later In Touch also hosted by Mrs JnPierre-Emmanuel, until recently the prime minister’s press secretary.

Ironically, only this week at a party press conference SLP chairman Claudius Francis claimed he had “many friends in the media” and named Miguel Fevriere as one of them!

Miguel Fevriere calls it quits.

Meanwhile the station has been seeking to set right widespread speculation that Poleon was pressured out of his position by politicians who’ve practically taken over Choice’s editorial department.

A statement from Choice this week said in part: “Separation is inevitable if a member does not share our moral and ethical obligations.”

For his part Poleon, also a presenter and host of the popular Newsspin on Radio Caribbean International, has been reticent about his reasons for quitting the job he’d held for three years at Choice.

Unconfirmed reports indicate he will be returning as of next week to DBS, where his long TV career began.

Choice TV’s CEO Wayne Whitfield was not available for comment on the latest resignation. However, he has adamantly denied Poleon’s departure had anything to do with pressure from any of his clients.
