Anse la Raye youth try to stop the violence

Avalon Joseph and Joshua Lawrence with assistance from Bernadette Albert and Bridget Simon are part of the group JA Promotions hoping to bring about social change in the communities of Anse La Raye/Canaries. The group’s first event is a weekend love fiesta beginning with a show at Moon-river Canaries tonight and a kids Fiesta on Sunday February 13. Tonight’s event will feature performances by Zionomi, Shayne Ross, Exodus and others. According to Avalon it is time to ease the tension, neglect and division brought about by politics over the years and to offer hope to the community of their birth. More on the group, their aspirations and political views in next week’s STAR.
