Attn. road users and residents: LUCELEC to undertake Electricity Infrastructure Improvements at Carellie

St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) will be replacing a section of its 66-thousand-volt (kV) underground cable at Carellie beginning on Monday, March 15. The work will involve excavation works along the side of the Carellie road from the junction of the Morne du Don/Balata gap towards the Chase Gardens Court.  The work is expected to be completed within approximately three weeks.

The construction works may hinder the traffic flow and cause some inconvenience to residents and road users. LUCELEC is, therefore, soliciting the public’s cooperation during this period.

Road users are also asked to be mindful of the various safety measures such as reflective tape, cones, barriers and warning signs that will be put in place to designate the work area.

Customers are not expected to be hindered by service interruptions, except towards the tail end of the works and LUCELEC will notify of these outages before they occur.

The works are necessary to restore LUCELEC’s main 66 kV ring in the north of the island to its optimal and most resilient configuration. That part of the cable was damaged in the course of excavation works by a third party several months ago.

LUCELEC regrets any inconvenience to the residents of Carellie and the motoring public and thanks the public for their understanding and patience.
