Augier medals at CCCAN

Swimmer Jordan Augier came away with silver and bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Championships.

Jordan Augier achieved a swimming first for St Lucia, when he captured two medals at the 28th Central American and Caribbean Championships (CCCAN) being held in Costa Rica.

Augier has become the first St Lucian male swimmer to ever achieve a medal at this level. Swimming in his favored backstroke events Jordan captured a silver in the 50 metre (m) back and bronze in the 100 m back. His 1:02.09 in the 100 m and 27.10 in the 50 m were also national records.

Not to be outdone, Brad Worrell placed fifth in the 200 m breast, establishing a new national record of 2:40.16. A very gutsy swim for Worrell, given the fact he was 1:12 at the 100 m mark. He also swam a national record in the 100 m breast with a time of 1:08.36 and placed fifth in the finals.

He swam a national record in the preliminaries with a time of 58.36. Daniel also picked up a national record in the 50 m breast with a time of 30.95.

The competition ends today (Saturday).
