[dropcap]I[/dropcap]ndependence activities were in full swing over the past few days with events happening throughout the island. On Tuesday this week, the Youth Expose was held at Constitution Park. According to organizers, the main objective of the event was to give young people a platform to share their talent.
This year the event kicked off with a parade from Serenity Park to Constitution Park, followed by musical and other performances. Featured artists included Ezra D’Fun Machine, Brendon, Sedale and Mysteria.
Kelvin Antoine, a member of the Independence Planning Committee, told the STAR the committee succeeded in its objective of getting the best of the best on stage.
On Wednesday it was on to the Independence Parade, and the Best of Saint Lucia event held at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds. Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet and other dignitaries took part in the festivities. Independence activities culminated with fireworks lighting up the sky above Beausejour following a packed programme of celebration.
