The Mexicans, Americans, Canadians and the Puerto Ricans are coming. Fifth, sixth and seventh stage winners, Mexico, have also registered for the Ninth Stage of the 2013 NORCECA Beach Volleyball tour, scheduled for St Lucia from October 9-14 at the beautiful and historic Pigeon Island Landmark.
Mexico joins the usually powerful Americans, Puerto Ricans and Canadians all jostling for big money and ranking points. This makes for a powerful, high octane and quality event at the Pigeon Island Landmark, which hosts its second consecutive NORCECA Beach tour.
A total of 32 teams, 16 male and 16 female teams are expected to compete here. Many of these teams will fly directly out of Chula Vista, San Diego where the eighth stage took place.
The St Lucian duo of Joseph Clercent and Julian Bissette (Salt and Pepper) are part of that group who are playing back to back stages of the tour. They’ve had it extra hard, coming directly out of Langley, Canada last week after participating in the 2013 NORCECA Senior Men’s Championship. The St Lucian pair will be looking to have another good performance at home, like they did last year placing third.
St Lucian’s are in for a major treat of high level competition with world class athletes at their best, as they jockey for position in their NORCECA ranking which contributes towards 2014 CAC Games qualification, 2015 Pan American games Qualification and of course 2016 Rio Olympics.
