Boating accident leaves Soufriere man dead.

On Sunday 16 December 2012 about 4:35 pm, Officers attached to the Soufriere Police Station responded to a report which occurred at the Soufriere Water Front.

On arrival, Officers received information that a 17 ft 8 inch Fiberglass boat named “Champion” had collided into another 12 ft 7 inch wooden boat named “Psalms 23”. The Fibreglass boat was being captained by 33 year old Smithy Marius of Canaries.  At the time 69 year old Sylvester Prosper AKA Cowboy was the lone occupant on board the wooden boat.

As a result of the collision, Sylvester Prosper was pitched into the sea and was submerged for about fifteen minutes before he was rescued.  He was transported to Soufriere Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post mortem is scheduled for a Tuesday 18 December 2012.
