St Lucia’s two participants at the AMBC Elite Continental Boxing Championships being staged in Santiago, Chile, both lost their bouts to Canadian opponents.
St Lucia’s heavyweight boxer British based Ryan Charles, lost his bout last Thursday evening on points to Samir Elmais 90 pts to 81 pts. The three judges scorecards all showed them giving the fight to Elmais 30-27 on their cards.
The other St Lucian boxer at the championships Lyndell “The Russian” Marcellin, also lost his bout on points to a Canadian in the 69kg Welterweight Division. Marcellin lost last Friday evening to Clayton Custio, a quarter finalist at 2012 Olympic Games in London England.
The St Lucians left Chile on Tuesday for their respective destinations. Charles returns to England while Marcellin and the other team officials return to St Lucia.
Both boxers along with Coach Conrad Fredericks will later this month attend the Road to Almaty Boxing Camp, in preparation for the World Amateur Boxing championships to be staged in Almaty.
