Boxers in training for Guadeloupe

St Lucia’s amateur boxers have stepped up their training as they prepare for a visit from regional neighbors Guadeloupe here later this month.
The local amateur boxers will match their skills against the best amateur’s which Guadeloupe has to offer as the St Lucia Amateur Boxing Association (SLABA) seeks to gain experience and exposure for the many youngsters enrolled in the local boxing program.
The local boxers will also take the opportunity to participate in the St Lucia Olympic Committee’s Olympic day activities on June 17 at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Several of the boxers who will face opponents from Guadeloupe are expected to be on the card on the Olympic day activities. The boxing action on that day is expected to run from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
An 18 member St Lucia training squad headed by Lyndell “The Russian” Marcellin, has been named in preparation for the bouts against Guadeloupe.
The rest of the boxers named are Dalton George, Alex Poyotte, Adolf Agustin, Miguel Auguste, Ron Bastien, Travis Maynard, Danzel Harry, Kyghan Mortley, Yanic Leon, Heslie Louis, Roni Samuel, Dimitry Charlery, Trevon Lynch, Joshua Brown, Joshua Duberry, Brad Louis and Jamal Mitchell.
The team will be under the watchful eyes of coaches Renaldo Toledo Calvario and Conrad Fredericks, as they prepare for the visit of Guadeloupe.
