Thirteen local amateur boxers go into the first of two weekend camps this weekend at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in preparation for the upcoming OECS Boxing Championships.
The competition is also being staged at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex from May 31 to June 1.
The boxers, who’ll compete to make the national squad for the OECS Championships will train Saturday afternoon into the evening and stay overnight, do more extensive training throughout Sunday morning then break camp around midday.
The camps consists of team bonding sessions, motivational exercises, rigorous and extensive physical training including sparring, as the team fine tunes preparations for
the upcoming championships.
Five countries: Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda and host country St Lucia, are expected to participate in the revived OECS Boxing Championships.
