Boxers ready for World Amateur Boxing Championships

St Lucia’s two boxers at the World Amateur Boxing Championships currently underway in Almaty Kazakhstan will be in action this week.

Today (Wednesday) 69 kg welterweight Lyndell “The Russian” Marcellin comes up against an opponent from Turkmenistine Serdar Hudayberdiev.

The other St Lucian boxer at the championships British based Ryan Charles, got a bye into the next round of competition in the heavy weight division. He will fight the winner of the Migeaul Correa of Chile vs Stephen Lavelle of Scotland bout. Charles will be in the ring on Friday.

Both boxers successfully completed a three week camp held in Kazakhstan in preparation for the tournament. From all reports they are eager and rearing to go and give it their best shot at the World Amateur Boxing Championships.
