St Lucia’s national boxing team is presently in Martinique to participate in the Third Annual Creole Boxing Championships. A 14-member contingent comprising nine boxers and five officials made the trip to Martinique.
The boxers are 2010 Senior Male Boxer of the Year and two time Creole Boxing Championships gold medalist Dalton “The Hurricane” George; 2010 Creole Games gold medallist Lyndell “The Russian” Marcellin. The rest of the squad is Darius Cetoute, Arthur Langilier, Khygan Mortley, Yanic Leon, Alex Poyotte, Leroy James and Roni Samuel.
The officials with the team are coaches Renaldo Toledo Calvario and Conrad Fredericks; manager, Tennyson Glasgow; assistant manager/media Rrlations officer and St Lucia Amateur Boxing Association (SLABA) PRO, Brian McDonald; and SLABA president, David “Shakes’’ Christopher who heads the delegation. Also with the team is Cecil Kerr who is referee during the championships.
Host Country Martinique, two time defending champions Guadeloupe, St Martin, French Guyana, Dominica, St Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda are scheduled to participate in the event.

The St Lucian contingent is expected to return home Sunday afternoon—Hopefully with a fist full of medals!
