Cadet drowns during training

Louvin Nelson: What exactly led to his drowning last weekend?

The Cadet Corps is still reeling from the loss of one of their own. Last Saturday, Cadet Sergeant Louvin Nelson drowned while participating in what the corps called “a routine adventurous training exercise” near the Troumassee Estate in Micoud.

Fifteen-year-old Nelson, from the community of Dennery, was discovered to be missing after a customary head count following completion of the training. A search for the teen immediately got underway, combing the camp site and surrounding area. It was then that the lifeless body was found, floating in a nearby river. A trip to St Jude’s Hospital confirmed the death.

The organization released a statement commenting on the sad news.
