[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he global competition ‘Get in the Ring’ has launched in Saint Lucia and is calling on entreprenuers from across the island to engage in an exciting opportunity. The local event is hosted by the Saint Lucia Junior Achievement and the Saint Lucia Youth Business Trust, both Chamber of Commerce entities. In its final stage, selected business owners will pitch their business ideas head-to-head in an actual boxing ring for a place in the Global Meet-up in Carcais, Portugal where they will vie for the interest of potential investors.

Battle one-on-one against the best for the opportunity to connect with international investors!

‘Get in the Ring’ is an activity hosted in over one hundred countries and is a selection event for the Global Start-up Competition of the Get in the Ring Foundation.According to programme officer of the Saint Lucia Youth Business Trust, Wilton Jeremie, the Saint Lucian leg of the event will be hosted in four parts. Firstly is Pitch Training, where participants practice their pitch, together with peers, and get feedback from experts during training sessions.

Secondly is Match-ups, which is an opportunity to participate in one-on-one pre-matched speed dating sessions with investors and business leaders to discover business opportunities together.

Thirdly is Selection, during which participants will have the chance to pitch for a spot on the main stage event. This will be done before an experienced jury who will also be able to provide advice on each participant’s performance.

And finally, the Battles.

The highlight of every ‘Get in the Ring’ event is the moment the entrepreneurs take centre stage to share more about their business. This will be done in a boxing ring before a live audience. Participants will seek to convince the judges that their business is the most innovative and scalable venture present,” Jeremie stated.

The finals of the ‘Get in the Ring’ Saint Lucia contest will be held on March 21, 2018 at Caribbean Cinemas, Choc. To participate, candidates must possess an innovative business or model, must have launched their business less than eight years ago and must be fluent in English.

Persons are required to apply at www.gitr.co/slu. Applications are also available via the Get in the Ring Saint Lucia event page and Global Entreprenuership Week facebook page. For more information persons are also encouraged to contact a member of the chamber at 452 3165.
