Cannelles Road Works

Works to reinstate the culvert and road section at Cannelles – Micoud along the Castries Vieux Fort Highway has commenced. The damage to the culvert and roadway was caused by the extreme weather event of December 24th, 2013.

The contract was awarded to OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd following a National Competitive Bidding process initiated in early September 2014. Advertisements were published in local newspapers from September 12th, 2014, on the websites of the Governments of Grenada, St. Vincent and St. Lucia (Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Infrastructure websites), and published in the National Gazette from September 10th to October 26th, 2014. Fourteen local firms took advantage and collected bidding documents.

A total of seven local firms submitted bids in response to the advertisement. After careful consideration of the submitted bids against the Bid Evaluation Report, the Central Tenders Board (CTB) at a meeting on January 21st, 2015 approved the recommendation for the award of Contract to OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd for the amount of $2,162,456.54.

On January 26th, 2015 the World Bank gave its No Objection to the recommendation Bid Evaluation Report for the award of contract to OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd for the amount of $2,162,456.54.

The Contract for Works was signed between the Government of St. Lucia, represented by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport ,and OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd on February 18th, 2015 after receipt of the Performance Bond and requisite insurances. The works will be completed over a 24 week period.

The proposed works entail the construction of a reinforced concrete box culvert, filling to create embankment, and reinstatement of the road pavement structure. The contractor has begun mobilization on site and works are expected to proceed as planned.
