There’s nothing quite like one’s school days, and past students of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School got to relive those moments on March, 30—if only for a day! As the invitation indicated, it was their time to shine, and give back to their old school and CCSS’ old boys and girls came out in large numbers to support.
With the events theme playing around the school’s red and white colours, past students somehow managed to dig up old school uniforms, or make new ones just for the occasion. Those who couldn’t find or make uniforms in time opted simply to wear red, white or black, but the effect was a great one, and added to the overall entertainment of the night. Even retired principal Jeremy Joseph made an appearance!
“Whoa! The ex-boys and girls look even better than the present ones!” one man joked. “Whoever came up with the idea for this event is brilliant. I didn’t attend CCSS but am happy for them all. Good luck old guys, hope you’ll return every year and continue to help CCSS (present) in the best way you can.”
Anniversary activities continued into the earlier part of April with the school’s present Theatre Art students staging a two day production that was well attended. The school also had a special anniversary exhibition open to the public in earlier this month.
“The Parents/ Guardians-Teacher Association of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School is sincerely thankful to all past students who made the night a wonderfully memorable event – you folks had so much fun, hardly anything else needed to happen – just being there was entertainment enough,” the school’s acting principal Gail Biscette said. “Thanks for your contributions and thanks for committing to a worthy cause!”
“What a marvellous night it was!” Gail Biscette continued, adding that contributions from past students now made it possible for the school to tile their Learning Resource Centre, LRC. “The projects continue,” she assured. According to the school’s acting principal, the next fundraising activity would be held with the objective of assisting with renovations to the School’s Science Block Biscette revealed “leaked big time.” In addition, the biology lab had been closed for over two years!
Past students throughout the school’s history used the night to reminisce and reflect on past times; sharing experiences and meeting up with old friends they hadn’t seen in years.
The reunion evening was part of the school’s 37th anniversary celebrations.
