Knowing, Understanding and Fairly applying the St. Lucia Labour Act was the focus and intention of a powerful and excellently delivered workshop by Ms. Cheryl Godard-Dorville a lawyer highly respected for her in depth-knowledge and expertise in the field of Labour Law. The Workshop hosted by the Chamber on 13th March 2024, was attended by businesspeople from variety of sectors who wished to enhance their understanding and get advice on the proper interpretation and practical application of this most important piece of legislation.
The attendees remained keenly attentive and engaged, asking many questions and seeking clarification on a range of pertinent issues, making for an extremely interactive workshop. There were many HR professionals who had a strong interest in the subject matter as the Code was a live and active instrument that guided the interactions between employer and employees in a dynamic manner. Thus, the information and interpretative guidance and recommended approaches and sample pieces of communication were well received.
The workshop was once again facilitated by Mrs. Cheryl Goddard-Dorville who has invested a significant amount of time and gained invaluable experience and knowledge which she has shared over the years through this partnership with the Chamber of Commerce. Her adept handling of the discussions ensured that participants gained a deeper understanding of the legal framework governing employer-employee relations.
“We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and active participation of attendees at this Know Your Labour Act workshop,” said Kamille Huggins, Membership Development Officer of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce. “The extent of questions, the engagement and discussions underscore the importance of providing such insightful and relevant professional development programs like this one.
